Fusion Fit Mom – Jessica Nelson

About 2 years ago, I was invited to a Fusion class and I immediately fell in love. I’ve never had much success with having a gym membership, and I knew that I really enjoyed the group class setting, so for me, Fusion was a good fit. Mike, Erica, and their team do a fantastic job at setting a no-judgment atmosphere. Everyone who walks through their doors is on a different journey; whether it’s training for competitions or races, weight loss, mental health, or overall wellness, everyone is welcome and treated with respect. Between the focused personal attention, reaching out by sending a message just to say hey and check in, and daily encouragement sent straight to my phone from their Fusion901 app, it really does feel like family.

Core Strength classes have played a huge part in gaining strength back in my abdominals and with recovery from diastasis recti (abdominal separation). I’m so thankful for Erica and her care and attention, especially to mamas.

When I attended my first Fusion class, my youngest had recently turned 1, and I was learning how to take care of myself. I have struggled with post-partum depression and anxiety (PPD&A), and as many moms can probably relate to, putting yourself first is usually pushed to the back burner, and unfortunately for some, that mindset is hard to ever come out of. Throw on top of that all of the other symptoms I was experiencing, and most days it felt impossible. But I had to fight. I was already super focused on nutrition that stemmed out of necessity in regards to food intolerances in our family, and then walking through PPD&A, I grew such a heart for overall wellness.

Last year, through an invitation and a desire to take my fitness to the next level, I took the leap and signed up for Women’s Boot Camp. Through this fun and effective class, I have been able to dig deep and truly find my strong.

Through my desire to want to help my body bounce back from baby #3, I quickly realized how much fitness played a role in my mental health as well. So, through their high-energy interval cardio dance classes, Fusion became a part of my story. I not only come away from Fusion sweaty, and having burned a ton of calories, but I also feel amazing mentally, knowing that I’ve taken time to take care of myself, and giving my body the hormonal boost that it needs. In addition, Core Strength classes have played a huge part in gaining strength back in my abdominals and with recovery from diastasis recti (abdominal separation). I’m so thankful for Erica and her care and attention, especially to mamas, because if it weren’t for her, I probably would’ve never known that I had the condition. Through modified exercises, I have been able to grow stronger, safely, slowly stepping into the full versions, rather than causing harm to my body by doing exercises that I shouldn’t, without knowing it.

Fusion Fitness is such an important part of my life, and if anyone asks me what I’m training for, I tell them: I’m training for life!

Erica and Mike do an amazing job of pushing us through our fears, encouraging us that we can do it, and reminding us of how far we’ve come.

I’ve been amazed at my progress since I started Boot Camp a year ago, and seeing all the obstacles that I’ve overcome, both in class, and in life. Fusion Fitness is such an important part of my life, and if anyone asks me what I’m training for, I tell them: I’m training for life! Training to keep up with my growing children. Training to daily overcome mental illness. Training to keep moving forward no matter how many times I fall down. I do it for myself, for my husband, for my kids, and for the glory of God.
